A weekend project for any of you with access to a digital camera: Make a photographic tour of your room / studio / flat / maisonette / house / mansion.

Post it on this thread next week, for everyone to enjoy / mock.

Can we do it with work too? My work looks crazy pretty these days: big grand hall with staircase and red carpet and giant marble statue of Queen Victoria: big chandeliers, and this net of fairy lights in the ceiling and these big Victorian style christmas swags of leaves and stuff. And stained glass windows. It is ace.

That sounds like a great idea for another thread, London.

Click this asterisk * and then browse your computer for the file. Click the button and it will be magically copied to my webserver. It's even kind enough to write the UBB code for you.

Is there something wrong with my image upload thingy?

Posted by froopyscot (Member # 178) on :

I tried earlier, and got a funky error message.

I'll try again and see what happens.

Posted by froopyscot (Member # 178) on :

I got this:

code:
Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005'

Operation not Allowed

/tmo/uploads/upload.asp, line 32

For what it's worth, I get the same error on both Firefox and IE.

Posted by MiscellaneousFiles (Member # 60) on :

What filetype were you trying to upload? I think it only allows gifs, jpgs and pngs under a certain size...

Let me see what I can do.

Posted by Travelling Canadian (Member # 491) on :

Okay. I tried to upload a picture of my front yard....

Ooh! It's so big! Sorry. Just thought you'd enjoy some Botswana sunshine over there...
Please make it smaller, if you can. Else everyone will be ticked off at me for fucking up the page!

Here's a shot of mine and rooster's new christmas tree. With a close-up view of one ornament in particular.

Squeegy/TC, is it true that in Botswana, every citizen is legally entitled to their own plot of land, that they can build on/farm/do whatever they want with? Also: is there free education to degree level?

Posted by squeegy (Member # 136) on :

I think so. About the land that is. I should look into it, I might be the proud owner of a baobab tree and a warthog! As for education, Im not sure.

Who's up for BotswanaMeat 2005?

Squeegy - you appear to be living in JM Coetzee's hit novel Disgrace. Are you, by any chance, an embittered academic?

Welcome to Chez Misque

After taking your shoes off in the entrance hall, I welcome you to the living room:

 -

Take a look on the shelves and you might be lucky enough to see Sy Snootles and the Rebo Band:
 -

I'll spare you the kitchen and bathroom, but you're more than welcome to explore the bedroom (spot the Avonator):

 -

Take a look out of the window and see the cold streets of Newbury:

 -

I'm afraid the loft is off-limits at the moment. I might take you up there another day though, if you promise not to touch anything.

Squeegy stared through the screen door into the featureless waste of the yard. It was nearly noon and the baobab had no birds in its branches and cast no shade onto the hot dust below. The corrugated tin door of the smaller outbuilding was hanging off its hinges - he'd meant to fix it earlier on the season but one thing had led to another and this, like so much else in his life, remained undone. He felt immensely weary.

From somewhere further back in the house - past the stairwell, maybe in the parlour - came the dog's ragged, unevenly rhythmic panting. Squeegy knew it was dying. Soon he would have to decide whether to take it to the flyblown veterinary practice in Hope, or whether he should finish it off himself in the yard.

The prospect sickened him.
