I'm going for a long weekend in Iceland, staying in Reykjavik at the Thingholt, over the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend (yay!)
Has anyone been before, and if so, can you recommend any places to go/things to do and see/restaurants/clubs/shops etc etc?
Many thanks! xx

This is another one of those places I must see before I die. Photographers paradise, and the women are like goddesses apparently. However it is very expensive I have been told, much alike Scandinavia.
For things like this, can't go wrong with www.wikitravel.org Posted by Jimmy Big Nuts (Member # 895) on :
if you go to the harbour in Reykjavik you can buy polystyrene cups of this amazing fish soup. It's cheap compared to a lot of the food in the city, but very hearty. I can't remember what it's called but it's quite popular. Also there are some beautiful antique shops in the same area.
Top tip: You might find that children just come up to you and start talking to you in the street. They're not selling anything, it's just that kids over there seem to be encouraged to talk. Quite a culture shock at first.

If you visit the Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavík, don't forget that bathing your breasts in the font will apparently return your virginity. And don't make the mistake of visiting the church with any clothes on. Anything other than total nudity is considered an insult to Odin.
