This will now be taking place on Saturday the 5th of June, due to the event being postponed until then due to heavy rain leaving the park waterlogged. See website notice.
Here are the meet up details for the day: Meet up at 1pm outside Brockwell Park Lido. See map for details - click here.
There will be two live stages with bands. 4 sound systems, Hip Hop, and Dance marquees, plus 100's of stalls and food vendors. Here is a link to the festival website: Click here.

It's been that sort of week.

Speaking of the TMO North American population increasing, M and I have been trying to decide if we should move to the UK or North America, or perhaps a few months in each to see what happens.
We get as far as ...hmmm which one?...then have another glass of wine. We are almost to the point of throwing a dart at a map. Indecisive? Us? Nahhhh. However, time is running out.

Well, it has. I'm still part of the North American population, I just don't live there at the moment. What ever happened to Amy, anyway? She used to post a lot here.
Mart, Grianagh? Spain, hell, I'll go there! You can take my spot in Canada for a bit. Oops. I think we hijacked somebody's Mayaday thread...oh, well.

That probably seems like a good idea right now, Harland. You'll settle in with the new one and on May the 9th, May the 10th and even right up to, say, the end of August things will feel fresh and special. You'll post every night, sometimes two or three times, but eventually the novelty will wear off, your post count will fall and you'll find a fortnight has passed without so much as a quick fumble on the keyboard. Soon you'll begin to wonder if TMO has firmed up in your absence. Has it changed its outfit or maybe reverted back to its flirtatious ways of old? Slowly you'll start to remember all the things which attracted you to TMO in the first place and, furthermore, since you've made a promise never to look back, these days its forbidden. Suddenly your old forum seems a much more exciting place to be. In your mind TMO isn't wearing any underwear. Different enough to excite you, familiar enough to dispense with introductions. You could, just once, call in, couldn't you? Would that be so wrong? Would they ever find out? Maybe TMO has a circle of new friends who laugh at its jokes and undress their fragile souls at its feet, layer by desperate layer - each day bringing them closer to giving in and letting the forum claim them completely. Today a touch, tomorrow a caress, here a testing toe dipped in a fantastic pool, there a gasp followed by a sigh as the waters slowly rise against an electrified calf, a quivering thigh and then the unstoppable flood of...Ah, but you mustn't think of it. You've quit...for good.

I am quitting all message boards for good, because I will be spending more time either in chatrooms or browsing the web for items of interest and just checking email. I have also got pissed off with message baords, thats the main reason I am quitting.

Terror Suspects Arrested
A couple have been arrested in Spain on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on Britain or the United States. The couple, one American and one British, had based themselves in Spain and were apparently trying to decide which country they should attack. A map with dart holes all over America and the UK was discovered at their hideaway, along with a large pile of empty wine bottles.

I am in the airport. As I travel light I only have my rucksack. I glide up to passport control..Mart ahead of me as I took my time at the coffee stand. The passport officals take one look at my passport stamped US, Denmark, Spain, US, Spain, US, UK, Spain, UK, Spain, UK, Switzerland, Spain, US, UK all within the past 4 months.
Alarms go off. Interogation begins. 'Is it true Grianagh that you were last seen in Madrid atocha two days before ....is it true that you were seen in London on March 14th-16th with a male of middle eastern appearance?! Is it true there are phone calls from your Brighton hotel room to New York, Chicago, San Francisco and....SPAIN???...what about this internet posting from ...Mr. Dang65...'
'Yes, it is true. But you see, it's a coincidence. Mart, explain...it's all coincidence......Mart?!'
Mart meanwhile is sipping cervacas with the tarted up seņoritas in the bar.

Grianagh, I just thought it was funny that someone would refer to Hawaii as part of North America - it seemed a bit like referring to Tenerife as part of Iberia - I didn't think you wouldn't know where it was, far from it, and there was nothing personal about it.
I just thought it was funny. That's all.

By the way, just remember that unlike the evening meet on the same day, the festival meet will be much easier to get back home from as it finishes in the early evening. So anyone from outside London who can't make the evening meet at Digress because of trouble getting transport back home come to the festival meet instead.

Hippies were around from the late sixties until the mid seventies at the latest. They wore colourful clothes and had long clean unmatted hair. There are no or at least very few hippies around now. Todays' so called hippies are infact crusties, who only arrived on the scene in the mid to late eighites. With their unwashed matted dreadlocked hair and filthy clothes, they have virtually nothing in common with the true hippie movement at all which originated in North America.
The only thing in common is that they also squat and smoke dope. But apart from that they are completely different both in appearance and lifestyle.

It does conflict strongly with your views because people like Richard Branson and many other modern day business people were among the original hippies such the inventors of Mountain Bikes and founders of IT companies like Sun Microsystems. I mean you wouldn't machine gun someone like Richard Branson would you? The original hippies really were a class apart from todays crusties. Most real hippies would find it a great insult to be grouped together with modern day crusties.

Didn't Ben & Jerry end up loathing each other, sueing each other in massive corporate litigation, paying Gordon Ghekko style suited lawyers billions of dollars in an endless acrimonious legal death match until finally taking out hitman contracts on each other and dying as bitter old men?
I think they had some sort of uncool tiff anyway.
Posted by Harlequin (Member # 454) on :
The whole point I was making is that Samuelnorton was mistaking crusties for hippies. Crusties have their origins in the punk movement, while hippies left the youth scene long ago in the mid seventies.
The Crustie was created as a result of punk band Crass's decision to play the StoneHenge free festival in 1980. That first brought punks into the free festival scene. They went back year after year with many joining the traveler community who frequented these free festivals. Changed their style of dress and became crusties. The first time I saw them was at a punk concert in 1987 when they were still visibly part of the punk movement, but had changed dramatically in their style of dress.
