Shit, half five on a dreary Monday evening in the middle of February. Of all the ill concieved times to post a thread about a meat, half five on a dreary Monday evening in the middle of February is it. Anyway, some of us 'ard Northerners, locked up into our furry coats against arctic chill, have been thinking that it might be nice to counteract that chill through liberal application of booze. With that end in mind, Astro, Sidney, Bamba and I are probably going to be imbibing of booze in Manchester on the 5th of March. Anyone feeling the tight heart-squeeze of seasonal affective disorder or in desperate need to avail or re-avail themselves of the wondrous culture of Mancunia is most welcome to join us. And if you want to, you can post about it here! God, I'm so helpful, aren't I?

Can't you convince them that consuming huge quantities of alcohol is a worthwhile clinical experiment?
Posted by damo (Member # 722) on :
if you're lucky it might be the mythical "vodka and viagra" study.....
Posted by jnhoj (Member # 286) on :
haha, or the cannaboid one , where the guy was super fit and passed out the first day they gave it him, and got sent home with 2k.
I wish, some random drug of r nerve pain. b-oring.
Posted by jnhoj (Member # 286) on :
you arent allowed camera phones in there now and they do bag searches. Apparently there was an "incident"
Posted by damo (Member # 722) on :
still its cash young man. eeh i remember when it was a lot more fun in medeval. waiting till someone disappeared from the room and hiding their bed. laughing as the bloke next to me had to have his pulse taken, standing up, in the morning, saluting the nurse.
ooh it was a laugh.
how long are you in for? and does that tall welsh nurse still work there? and the fat nurses? the really fat nurses? the one that can't take blood without sticking the needle through to your bone?
ph memories. so much so i'm starting one over here....

I'll be moving house on that day. I'm not moving to Manchester, so unfortunately will not be able to attend.

Goddamn! I have failed to get in to three (3) clinical trials in the past few months. Cockers.

I shan't be attending as I'm turning vegetarian.

Yes! What better place to celebrate NWOD's birthday than in Manchester? Hm? Also it's my birthday the next weekend, so you can both help me celebrate that, too.
Posted by OJ (Member # 752) on :
Sounds good. With the disclaimer that I'm not 100% sure I'll be in the North West that weekend. But I might well be.
I'm also moving house for approximately the next three weekends inclusive. It's a long story.
Posted by dang65 (Member # 102) on :
That's the only weekend in the whole year when I won't be in Manchester.
I get the message, it's OK.
Posted by jnhoj (Member # 286) on :
I dont know much about a welsh nurse, but sarah the lovely head doctor woman is still there, I well ahve the hots for her.
Last time I was in was excellent, it was a small five man ward and all the blokes were great except this one guy, who was great, but pureloy for idiotic entertainment prupoes for the rest of us. Like he was arguing about a manu match with soem guy from another ward and the guy goes
"how do you know so much about football then, i was semi pro for a bit"
and our guy goes:
"im not telling you"
genius!
lots of four player halo fu nand sedatives, was bonus.

Booze is vegetarian... isn't it?
Posted by OJ (Member # 752) on :
But "meat" isn't. Perhaps Uber is cutting metaphorical meat from her diet in a very strict interpretation of vegetarianism.
Posted by froopyscot (Member # 178) on :
There's no rule that one must actually eat other forumites. At least, no rule I'm aware of.
Posted by froopyscot (Member # 178) on :
Or perhaps I've just never attended one of those sorts of meets. Wink wink, nudge, etc.

I don't know. Maybe.
At least, thanks to Louche, the chances of us getting robbed again are slim, since all the would-be thugs are busy in various youth trainng schemes and community centres.

Oh Fufusus! It was your idea. I'll tell you what, shall I make my own way up there and you can sit in your pants at home wishing you had bothered?

Do not be angry. It's just that Manchester is a large undertaking. It's a long journey that'll eat my petrol and numb my arse. And then there's the issue of where to stay. I don't have much money. But then there's the attraction of perhaps being able to forget the mediocrity of my own existance for a weekend
Posted by jnhoj (Member # 286) on :
a lot of booze isnt vegetarian, they use cow bones and fish bones in the filtering process im afraid. you have to stick with cider for the most part.

Posted by Astromariner (Member # 446) on :
Yay! Sort it, turbo.
Posted by Bamba (Member # 330) on :
Also: that's not far off the same amount it would cost me to fly to Manchester and I live in the same fucking country so that seems a but unfair. I bet you they're attempting to charge me vastly inflated prices to subsidise bloody furriners like you.
Posted by Astromariner (Member # 446) on :
maybe it's because they keep getting you mixed up with Ally McCoist and fear that you will do all sorts of cheeky-chappy hellraising on the plane.

Do cheeky-chappy's actually raise hell? I dunno, it just strikes me that yer actual raising of hell would be a good few steps up the mischief ladder from your common or garden cheeky-chapism. Like saying "That Olly Reed, he's such a cheeky-chappy!" It's just wrong innit?
Posted by Astromariner (Member # 446) on :
Well, there are different classes of hell-raiser, aren't there. eg, I would classify Rod Stewart as a cheeky-chappy hellraiser.

You're only not coming so that you don't have to contend with my freakish height.
Posted by New Way Of Decay (Member # 106) on :
Awww, no I genuinely would like to go but it would have cost me a fortune to go by train. I mean how good would that have been, a meat and my birthday? I don't even think I'm getting paid this Friday due to timesheet wookies. I may actually just be sat at home on my birthday with a glass of squash.
Posted by Ringo (Member # 47) on :
Hey, I only just saw this. There are simple logistical problems with going to manchester, the largest of which is the fact that we would have nowhere to stay, and I'm not driving there and back in one day, sorry.
Posted by New Way Of Decay (Member # 106) on :
When has that ever stopped us simply pointing in one direction, getting in a car and driving into the muckiest scrapes imaginable?
Posted by Ringo (Member # 47) on :
Well enough, I say, is enough. no more sleeping in dodgy car parks, no more getting mugged, no more banging on doors and shouting through letterboxes at half 2 in the morning... Unless you can suggest somewhere warm and inviting where we can stay without having to sign into a travel lodge under the names of Mr and Mrs Smith, it's just not happening.

Fucking hell NWoD - she's married. What the fuck is wrong with you? Don't you get it? God! You just won't be satisfied until you've smashed apart everything that makes other people happy, will you? God! You're like poison to the social circles of this forum.
Posted by New Way Of Decay (Member # 106) on :
Bamba - I'm unsure to deny that, it sounds suspiciously like something I would say.
Thorn - You are taking this way too seriously. To make out that it was a step too far and that I'm further pushing the boundaries of what's coinsidered socially unnaceptable is wrong.
Because he was away.
Ignore them Louche, I told Astro to tell you that I said hello and that I didn't have any time. Either that or she sent me away I can't remember, I'd been drinking too.
