Hello, a totally selfish thread here. Does anyone know what body would be responsible for legislation regarding Payment protection insurance is? I've just done an interview with some numbnuts who goes "Either the fsl or the hnngngngn* - I can't remember which are going to...", obviously I can't put "well it's one or the other" in my feature, but all I get from google Payment Protection Insurance is "PPI is a bunch of shit" type info, which while it may be true doesn't aid my attempts to find out what the new legislation is. Anyone know off the top of their heads who this would be?

* he didn't actually say this, I just can't work out what he says when I play it back

Feel free to use this thread for your own stupid one off queries, too.

FSA for insurance.

Edit: Possibly. They regulate UK insurers but i'm not sure if the company you're talking about would fall within their jurisdiction.

BBC article from earlier this year. It includes a link to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which sounds very much like "hnngngngn".

Article from The Motley Fool.

A bit out of date (March 2003) but still quite relevant. Lots of useful links.

Also:

there is no specific statutory legislation governing the sale of PPI
Actually, I've just realised you said 'new legislation'. So maybe they've finally introduced some.
