A weekend project for any of you with access to a digital camera: Make a photographic tour of your room / studio / flat / maisonette / house / mansion.
Post it on this thread next week, for everyone to enjoy / mock.

Can we do it with work too? My work looks crazy pretty these days: big grand hall with staircase and red carpet and giant marble statue of Queen Victoria: big chandeliers, and this net of fairy lights in the ceiling and these big Victorian style christmas swags of leaves and stuff. And stained glass windows. It is ace.

That sounds like a great idea for another thread, London.

Ooh! It's so big! Sorry. Just thought you'd enjoy some Botswana sunshine over there... Please make it smaller, if you can. Else everyone will be ticked off at me for fucking up the page!

Squeegy/TC, is it true that in Botswana, every citizen is legally entitled to their own plot of land, that they can build on/farm/do whatever they want with? Also: is there free education to degree level?

I think so. About the land that is. I should look into it, I might be the proud owner of a baobab tree and a warthog! As for education, Im not sure.
After taking your shoes off in the entrance hall, I welcome you to the living room:
Take a look on the shelves and you might be lucky enough to see Sy Snootles and the Rebo Band:
I'll spare you the kitchen and bathroom, but you're more than welcome to explore the bedroom (spot the Avonator):
Take a look out of the window and see the cold streets of Newbury:
I'm afraid the loft is off-limits at the moment. I might take you up there another day though, if you promise not to touch anything.

£4 from local knocked-off DVD shop, you nosey bastard.
And I bought it on DVD rather than VHS because the DVD format offers:
Up to 8 hours of crystal clear, realistic and high detailed video
No rewind. You can move to any part of the movie in a second.
Superior audio. Sound is stored on DVD in digital format like on CD. It can be up to 8 sound tracks and up to 8 channels on every track stored on DVD.
Subtitles. You can turn them on and off whenever you want. You can watch movie with French soundtrack and simultaneously read subtitles in English or Spanish. It can be up to 32 subtitles track on a DVD.
Extras. DVD's are often produced with additional chapters that give info on the actors, "The Making of..." type info, trailers, alternative languages, and director's comment tracks. The digital format allows the data to be organized in chapters and easily accessible via the remote control through a graphical interface menu, which is part of each DVD. The graphical interface is very flexible and the actual graphics are unique for each DVD. Each chapter can be almost instantly accessed via the remote. Some disks have PC-Friendly feature, which you can use if you have a DVD-ROM drive in your PC. Usually it contains some games, additional info about the movie (e.g. screenplay), images, etc.
You can watch DVD as many times as you want. When compared to a VCR, the advantage is even greater. Unlike a tape playing on a VCR player, the DVD disc is not touched by any mechanical part. Only a beam of laser light touches the disc. So even after 100"s of plays, the DVD disc has no wear characteristics. If you will not scratch or break it the picture will remain the same for long years.
