You all know about *Flash Mobs - gatherings of people to do something unusual for a brief period of time before quickly dispersing (so 2003).

Some examples include:

quote:
More than one hundred people converged upon the ninth floor rug department of Macy's department store, gathering around one particular very expensive rug. Anyone approached by a sales assistant was advised to say that the gatherers lived together in a warehouse on the outskirts of New York, that they were shopping for a Love Rug, and that they made all their purchase decisions as a group.
quote:
200 people flooded the lobby and mezzanine of the Hyatt hotel in synchronized applause for about fifteen seconds
Pants-a-Flame:
Participants of the mob dine at various Indian all-you-can-eat buffets across London, consuming as much onion and general spicy food as they can. Then they travel to the perfume department of a high-class London store, being careful not to expel any wind during the journey. At a predefined time, the mobbers release the muscles of their many anal orifices, with the intention of assaulting the nostrils (and ears) of shoppers and staff alike.

I'm sure you can do better. For the love of god, prove me right...

Ten thousand people all simultaneously log on to TMO using Misc's id and post the word Uruguay.

Then they log out and go home. Or stay at home, depending.

Good idea, but if you had a big enough turn out there's a possibility that the mobbers at the centre could suffocate.

I saw footage of mobbers causing a 'heart attack' in Oxford Street (I think) by blocking an artery. Dozens of them walked up and down a stretch of Oxford Street, then one of them clung to a pice of street furniture, as other mobbers passed they clung to the static mobbers, the clot. It built quite slowly initially but by the time there were 30 or 40 mobbers in a vast bundle blocking one entire stretch of pavement it had a marvellous effect.

I'll think of a new one, though.

How about flash mobbing Regent's Park, next to the zoo? Everyone comes together and shouts "Here kitty-kitty-kitty!" and then disperses.

Flasher Mob Bukkake
Male participants (ideally thousands in number) gather on a bridge or flyover in central London. Wanking vigorously, they aim to coincide their climaxes with the passing beneath of an open top bus full of tourists.

Smoke Mob
Hardcore smokers, frustrated with the new anti-smoking laws approach a newly non-smoking pub and light up outside. The first two take a gigantic puff, pass their cigarettes to the people behind, enter the premises and exhale. The second, and subsequent pairs follow the same pattern until the entire pub is full of smoke.

Flashhhhhh Mob
Teams of mobbers arrange to meet at various railway stations and get on the same train. They fill every available seat in the Quiet Carriage, alongside the normal passengers. At a certain point they make a shhhhhhhhhhhhh noise as loudly, and for as long as possible.

I have always wondered how they get so many people to come to these flash mob events. How do they advertise them to so many people over the internet? For example when there is a internet forum or chatroom meet, there is usually no more than 40 people at the very most, but these flash mob people can mobilise hundreds.
